PONTIAC -- Police in Pontiac say they were caught off guard by a planned "Cannabis Convention" scheduled for October at the Silverdome.  Ads for the three-day convention over Halloween began appearing in local businesses this week, and police say they were not consulted about the legality of the event.

Pontiac Police Chief Val Gross says that, despite medical marijuana laws in Michigan, marijuana and pot smoking paraphernalia are illegal in Pontiac.  A spokesman for the Silverdome called the event a, quote, "medical marijuana trade show."
