Centreville, MI--John McDonough, the St. Joseph County Prosecuting Attorney, expressed satisfaction with the jury's verdict in the Calista Springer murder trial. This trial was "all about Calista" McDonough said, further indicating that he felt the charges were appropriate, despite the acquittal of both defendants, Anthony and Marsha Springer, on the Felony Murder and 2nd Degree murder charges. After nine days of deliberations, both Anthony and Marsha Springer were found guilty on counts of first degree child abuse and torture. 16-year-old Calista Springer died two years ago this Friday in a St. Joseph county house fire while chained to her bed.
