TEXAS TOWNSHIP -- Authorities think that a child playing with fire started a conflagration that killed 4-young children and a woman in Texas Township early on April 25th. But they admit they may never really know for sure what caused the blaze.
16 people were staying in the one story ranch house. The home had no working smoke detectors and not everyone got out. If not for the courageous actions of some of the first firefighters on the scene, the death toll might have been even higher.
They determined that the fire began on a mattress in the living room, and with no likely trigger in the area, they are assuming it was a child playing with matches or a lighter. That was the suspicion from the beginning.
This closes the investigation.
Toddlers Kianna Bracken, Dontae Vaughn, Zion Bryant and Daniel Adams died that day. 22 year old Daniela Adams died a week later.
